It is with huge sadness that the club has to announce the passing of Mick Searis on Tuesday 6th June 2017 in The Rainbow Rooms at The West Berkshire Community Hospital.
Mick had been a member at Deanwood for nearly 20 tears and was Captain of the club in 2003/04. Alongside Lady Captain Sheena Allport they raised £8000 which was split between The Air Ambulance, Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust and Dingley Family Playtherapy Group. He was an incredibly popular member of the Saturday crowd and latterly joined in Seniors events. He provided the trophy that the Seniors still play for in the annual knockout competition.
As one of those people who everyone liked and who gave so much of himself to others he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered not only at Deanwood but across many other sports clubs and in the building trade.
Our thoughts are with Carolyn & family at this sad time. I am sure they would like me to thank Newbury & District Cancer Care Trust and all the medical staff that helped Mick through his ordeal in recent months.
The funeral has now been arranged for Monday 26th June at West Berkshire Crematorium, 2.15pm. Family flowers only please but donations can be made in Mick's name either at the service or follow the instructions that will appear in this weeks NWN. After the service all are welcome to Deanwood Park GC for refreshments.
