First Day Back
8am Friday 15th May - We're back!
We have day 1 under our belts now and I need to say a huge thank you to several people. Firstly to the greenkeepers, Chris & Zoltan, who have been looking after both courses lately, the hard work was certainly appreciated by all who played today. I am also very thankful for the patience, understanding and good humour of the Deanwood team of staff. They are handling the whole situation amazingly well and are being completely supportive of each other and the company through lockdown. Senior management face difficult decisions in these extraordinarily difficult times. We are fortunate to be in good hands.
The Government didn’t give us much notice to re-open and the new rules for booking have created a massive workload for all the golf industry IT providers. Intelligent Golf, who look after Deanwood, have been fantastic and despite some congestion on the servers and teething troubles with new features it is all working and accessible to everyone.
How does it all affect you?
We have to be strict and cautious in the early stages so advanced booking is currently limited to 2 days ahead for guests and 3 days for members. Tee times are all 9 holes only and for 2 balls only. There is also a limit of one tee time per week until we can assess the demand and make sure everyone gets a fair amount of access. Once we have a few days under our belt and the initial flush of demand is over we can look to adjust things accordingly.
We were fully booked today and Saturday is the same, which is very reassuring. The weather is set fair for a week or two so more good news. Everyone has been so grateful to be back on the course and so supportive of the club and the new procedures. There were no issues with anything we asked of players today, it all ran to time, and as well as those I thanked earlier I must say how much we appreciate the members and regular visitors to Deanwood.
Memberships have been extended until renewal letters come out which I hope will be during next week and of course more news will continue to flow now that we are back open.
